We had our sixth
prenatal Dr visit today. The baby
is healthy and we got hear the heartbeat again with the Dr’s handheld
machine. She measured my stomach with a tape measure. Apparently my uterus has stretched up to being above my belly button now. However, I’m still
gaining weight too quickly. In
fact, there hasn’t been a change in my weigh gain since last month. I gained 5lbs last month and 5lbs this
month. I actually did alter my
eating habits this past month to eat more salads, cook at home and cut out
fruit juices going back to water but I guess it didn’t help. I don’t think I’m capable of cutting
out sweets completely but it’s not like I eat them everyday. I could try cutting back portion sizes
but I’m not supposed to diet.
I started out at
135lbs and am now 148lbs. So, I
have gained 13lbs total since becoming pregnant. My Dr said that the bulk of pregnancy weight gain is
supposed to happen after 24 weeks which I’m not even at yet. It should be one pound a week starting
at 24 weeks for the duration of the pregnancy. I’m supposed to gain a total of 25 to 30 pounds during the
entire pregnancy. My Dr suggested cutting out fruit and taking 15 minute walks
in the morning and evening so I’m walking at least 30 minutes a day. Too bad my neighborhood sucks for
talking walks. What with the drug
dealers on the corner and all.
