Singing To My Belly

I heard that at 20 weeks the baby can hear inside the womb.  Some research has shown babies can recognize sounds that they heard in the womb after they’re born and will be familiar with the parents’ voices.  I even read that if read to your belly, when your baby is older it may gravitate toward those same stories you read to it.  Lately, I’ve been singing to my belly and telling the baby that I love it.  It’s funny how the baby isn’t born yet but I’ve already grown so attached to it.  I’ll probably start reading to my belly when it’s a bit bigger.

I had to run an errand and while I was in the car I had the radio on.  I could almost swear the baby was dancing inside my belly.  It was constantly kicking me almost in rhythm.  Some songs it seemed to like more than others but it lasted almost the whole car ride (though it wasn’t a very long ride).  I was stuck in 5pm rush hour traffic in LA which used to enrage me and drive me insane.  But this time instead of being angry or annoyed that I was sitting in stand still traffic not moving for a long time, I just put my hand on my belly and felt my baby dancing in there.  I was so happy to feel my healthy active baby that I cried a little bit.

Laying in bed getting ready to fall asleep my baby was moving around again.  Almost as if trying to get into a comfortable sleeping position.  I could actually see my stomach being raised by the kicks.  Not only is it strong but visibly noticeable now.  It’s so amazing that there’s a tiny little baby moving around in there.
