Today I met my
friend at the metro to take the subway to downtown LA for lunch. I’d been craving a Philippe’s Original
French Dip sandwich and a churro from Mr. Churro on Olvera Street (the best
churro ever). I figured it would
be a good way to get my walk in too.
She told me that today is actually no pants day on the subway so we
might see people riding without any pants on. I have no idea where this theme might have come from. Luckily we only witnessed one pantless
person the whole trip.
We got off at
Union Station and then walked two blocks to Philippe’s. I got a double dip French dip and a
lemonade. So yummy. Then we walked through Olvera street
looking at all the shops and items for sale. The Avila Adobe was actually open so we went inside. It’s a preserved adobe from 1818,
considered a historical LA monument.
We got a churro from Mr. Churro.
As always there was a line but it wasn’t too bad. They do fillings in them if you want
but I always like mine plain.
Warm, chewy and delicious as it’s freshly made. That was pretty much it. We took the subway back. I think it was a nice food adventure
outing and I did enjoy getting out for a little bit.
