Rose Parade Floats

Joe and I went to see the Rose Parade floats in Pasadena today.  We saw the parade on TV and Joe always mentioned how it would be cool to go sometime but I don’t find anything appealing about getting up super early and standing outside in the freezing cold surrounded by huge crowds of people.  So I suggested we just go see the floats afterward.  They set them up on the streets for viewing for three days and it costs ten dollars.  We stopped at Donut Friend for breakfast (Joe’s idea).  I got a mint oreo cake donut.  It was so rich and filling I didn’t even finish it but it was yummy.  Parking was annoying but we did find a spot up in a neighborhood not far away.  The floats were really beautiful.  Lots of design and intricacies that you could only see up close.  There were so many roses, flowers, seeds, plants and fruit used to make all the designs.  I think there were about forty floats and they went all the way up three different streets so viewing them all took quite a while and a bit of walking.  By the end I really felt like I had walked seven miles.  Though I’m sure the exercise is good for me.  They had so many float themes, the Disney, Milk, Dragon, Ballerina and Bear/Candy floats were my favorites.  I really love roses too.  They’re my favorite flower so it was really awesome to see so many different shades and varieties.
